"dundal-on-way" (experimental)
|
This communication mashup mixes the context of mobility (i.e. location) with communication hyperlinks. Useable by any user possessing a phone with a GPS and a dundal account, this mashup displays on google map your favourite locations and let you configure, for each of these locations, the modality of your communication hyperlinks. Let us give a quick example about the functionality of this mashup. Thanks to Dundal service, you configure communication hyperlinks in order to let the others reach you depending on where they come from. Ex: when coming from your blog, users can reach you through a communication hyperlink mapped on Google talk... Unfortunately, there is a key aspect that Dundal service does not take care about: WHERE you are Indeed, users are more and more moving, having several locations (home, work, meeting, etc...) in a single day. This mashup then, associate a location on each of your communication hyperlinks in order to able customization of communication hyperlinks according to a location. Ex: communication hyperlink bound to your blog can be associated to Google talk service when you are at home while it can be associated to a simple text message while you are working. The only thing the user needs to do, is to associate a resource to a communication hytperlink, according to a location. The mashup do the rest, retrieve user location, maintain localized communication hyperlinks, talk to Dundal service in order to reconfigure communication hyperlinks if user move to a new location, etc... Currently this mash-up only runs with the Google latitude service for location retrieval, but may soon take care of other solutions (such as Nokia Mobile Web Server). Beginners should read this short tutorial in order to know how to use the mashup. This mashup is hosted on google app engine and available here. You may either want to add and use the mashup directly on your iGoogle page (use with caution, this gadget still needs improvements).
